Pipe Burst in Glen Ellyn, IL Due to Freezing Weather
The pipe in this basement burst after the temperatures dropped to a record breaking low. Even if this homeowner took all the precautions to preventing frozen pipes, since the temperature was so low there was still a chance of frozen/burst pipes. This homeowner called SERVPRO of Lombard/Addison as soon as he/she noticed there was wet carpet in their basement. The homeowner was able to get a plumber out right away to turn off the water and replace the broken pipe. This is essential because we cannot complete our services if the source of the water has not been addressed. Thankfully, the water did not reach above the baseboard in the basement. Only the carpet throughout the basement needed to be taken out, but no drywall was required to be removed. SERVPRO was able to remove the carpet in a couple hours and leave equipment to ensure the ground under the carpet was dried. The customer was grateful for our quick response and ability to dry the basement with minimal demolition done.
