Sprinkler Head Burst in Residential Home in Addison, IL
During the freezing temperatures in February a sprinkler froze and expanded the pipe. Over the next few days, when the temperatures rose above freezing, the water in the sprinkler head thawed out and allowed the water to spray everywhere. About 15-20 gallons of water burst out of a sprinkler head when they are activated. By the time the customer had turned off the water to his home, the damage was done. As you can see in the first photo, the ceiling started to cave in from holding a heavy amount of water. The water had traveled from the front hallway to the kitchen and living room. SERVPRO of Lombard/Addison was able to remove all of the wet ceiling and dry the carpet in place! This was cost efficient for the customer and less invasive as well.
